An Update on SokoLocal — May 2022

As of April 29, 2022, SokoLocal has reached the end of its product and market validation phase. During this experimental period, we connected with local businesses and consumers to assess the needs of a platform like SokoLocal and helped build our features based on your feedback. In just 13 months, we amassed 2,178,463 products from 1368 local shops in 36 cities across Canada and the United States.

We are proud to say that this phase of SokoLocal was a great success and we owe it all to the local businesses and the consumers who are invested in supporting them. We want to thank every small business, local shopper and community member who engaged with our platform and joined us in our mission to support small businesses and provide a convenient way to browse local products. This journey solidified the meaning of “community.”

So what’s next for SokoLocal?

It’s time for us to take the experiment back to the lab! We will be reviewing our findings and the feedback we’ve received over the past 13 months to improve SokoLocal’s features and offerings to meet the needs of local business, shoppers and communities to provide the best local search tool possible.

We’ve removed the functionality to browse the local products listed on our site and submit new businesses to SokoLocal while we work on updating the search engine and adding new features. In the meantime, you can read our blog and learn more about what SokoLocal is.

We will be back soon with a new and improved SokoLocal, so stay tuned! For more information on MQLabs, visit www.mqlabs.ca.

This is not “goodbye,” it’s “see you later!”
